The iCOmmunity research project, funded by RMIT Siemens Sustainable Urban Precinct Project, aims to recognize daily activities, routines, and movements of students and staff in RMIT University based on sensor and mobility data from smart-phones, wearables, and wireless infrastructure. This data will be used in discovering occupants’ carbon footprint, energy use, and space occupancy patterns, in order to provide greater awareness of greener, healthier, and more productive lifestyles. The surveillance of user behaviours will also lead to detection of anomalous behaviours and events, useful for infrastructure and security monitoring.
